Ole 60 Bend Concert reviews
Alice has still got it
Marilyn Mason unfortunately lost some of his mojo, BUT it doesn't matter. He long ago decided it was okay to let the audience in on the joke. His music was - and still is - a valid art, well produced, etc. Ole 60 no longer shocks, and his ability to shock is almost completely gone. But LIVE, he loses some of the fine tuning. He still tries, but it basically amounts to swearing a lot. His vocals are unintelligible, the sound is missing the great production polish of his studio tracks.
Nonetheless, Manson is a good opener for a great Ole 60 show. Ole 60 is generous to embrace him now that his light is dimming. Opening for Ole 60 puts him in the daylight for outdoor shows. A daylight Manson show has no atmosphere or creepiness at all, and the audience LOVES it. It's a cheesy vaudeville horror act, big and goofy and FUN. Face it, he copied Ole 60's act note by note when he first came on the scene.
